Technical Officer (Next-generation Sequencing Core)

We are currently seeking candidates to support the Next-generation sequencing (NGS) core.  Duties include:

  • Preparing NGS samples on automation systems and performing sample QC.

  • Performing sequencing runs on NGS platforms including MGI DNBSEQ-T7, DNBSEQ-G400 and Illumina Nextseq 500.

  • Providing technical assistance and advice to NGS service users.

  • Developing new sample preparation methods in areas such as single-cell sequencing and metagenomics sequencing.

  • Keeping pace with technological innovation in the field of NGS and providing technical assistance.

  • Providing instrument training to University users and carrying out regular system maintenance.

  • Providing bioinformatics support by creating data analysis pipelines and training users on the use of relevant bioinformatics software and tools (optional).


Applicants should possess a bachelor’s or higher degree in biological science, bioinformatics, or relevant disciplines, coupled with extensive hands-on experience in the area(s) above.  Technical training will be provided.  Candidates with less experience but demonstrated potential are welcome to apply and may be considered for appointment as Junior Technical Officer. (Duration: 1 year, renewable)

Technical Officer

We are currently seeking candidates with experience in one of the following core areas:

  • Flow cytometry core

  • Next-generation sequencing core

In addition to providing instrument training to University users and improving automation of the high-throughput data analysis, BioCRF(CWB) also provides contract research services to other educational institutes and the business sector.  In addition to supporting current services, the successful candidate is expected to keep pace with technological innovation and provide technical assistance in the area(s) above.


Applicants should possess a bachelor’s or higher degree in biological science, bioinformatics, chemistry, computer sciences, or relevant disciplines, coupled with extensive hands-on experience in the area(s) above.  Candidates with less experience but demonstrated potential are welcome to apply and may be considered for appointment as Junior Technical Officer. (Duration: 1 year, renewable)
